Effective APP Description
9/17/2025 Pol 852 Public Expression Activities. Description: Policy 852 has completed the policy review process and is no longer interim. The key changes were based on several comments during the public review and to align with UC President directives. Some key changes include 1) Clarifies that the majority of outdoor areas of UCLA Property may be used for Public Expression Activities in accordance with TPM policies, with most areas requiring prior approval, some areas not requiring prior approval (i.e., "Designated Areas for Public Expression"), and limited areas not available for such uses; 2) Added Designated Areas of northwest corner of Le Conte and Westwood and modified eligible portions of Bruin Walk; 3) If an activity disrupts, conflicts with a scheduled event or other operations, participants may be asked to move. Refusal could lead to discipline or legal consequences; 4) May use amplified sound without prior permission during Marches as long as sound stays under 85 decibels and does not disrupt classes and other campus operations; and 5) Any tables, booths, tents or displays require prior approval, regardless of location.
9/03/2024 Pol 852 Public Expression Activities. This interim policy was formulated to provide reasonable access for open association, discussion and debate, while at the same time providing for the safe and orderly operation of the campus.
